The lake effect just won't end...
A LAKE-EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY continues for Geauga and Lake Counties.
A LAKE-EFFECT SNOW WARNING continues for Ashtabula County.
After another nasty morning commute and midday drive, the lake effect seems to have tapered off ... for now.
Tonight a weak frontal system will pass through the area, which will bring light snowfall to ALL of northern Ohio. This will leave a light coating (maybe up to 2") throughout northern Ohio.
The frontal system will also change the wind to a more favorable direction for the lake effect to get cranking again tonight. Another 2" to 4" of snow is possible (if) where we get snow bands.
It will still be breezy and plenty cold, but the overall temperature profile is looking warmer.
And therein lies another problem...
The weekend looks great, but by Sunday night we'll have light snow moving in. That snow will change over to rain by Monday morning, and with cold air and cold ground locked in place, we could be dealing with freezing rain.
The good news is the temperatures will warm on Monday, so the freezing rain threat will lessen as the day goes on.
The bad news is that Monday's rain is just the beginning...plenty more rain to come on Tuesday and Wednesday. This could cause some flooding because the ground is frozen.
Plenty to keep our eyes on...
Tonight: More lake effect snow. Areas east of Cleveland where lake snow bands set up could see 3" to 6" of snow, otherwise, just a dusting to 2 inches. Outside of lake effect territory skies will be mostly cloudy. Lows will range from 7 to 15 (wind chills still in single digits to below zero)
Thursday: Morning snow showers tapering off, then some afternoon sun. Near 20/low 20s
Friday: Snow showers likely. 1" to 4" accumulation across the entire area. Low 20s
Saturday: Morning snow showers, then partly sunny. Mid 20s
Sunday: Partly sunny. Near 30
Monday: Snow to freezing rain pre-dawn continuing through the morning. Temperatures warming to the upper 30s, which will lessen the threat for freezing rain in the afternoon.
Tuesday: Rain likely. Rain could be heavy. Mid 40s
Wednesday: Early rain with a rain/snow mix possible before tapering off. Near 40, falling into the 30s
