NORTH ROYALTON -- A 15-year-old girl died in a rollover accident this afternoon on the Ohio Turnpike.
According to the State Highway Patrol, the girl was one of seven people riding in a 2008 Ford Expedition in the westbound turnpike lanes when the driver of the SUV lost control on the wet pavement.
The vehicle went off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned. As it was overturning the girl was ejected from the SUV's third row of seats.
All seven people were taken to Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights. The girl was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The other six had injuries that weren't life-threatening. The westbound lanes of the turnpike were closed for about 45 minutes.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
