Severe weather winding down across northern Ohio

CLEVELAND - A round of very heavy thunderstorms is winding down across northern Ohio, although flooding will continue over the next several hours.

Here is the latest information coming into the Channel 3 Weather Center...

6:16 p.m. - FirstEnergy currently reporting 69,081 still without power across northern Ohio.

5:55 p.m. - Radar estimates 1-3 inches of rain for most areas across northern Ohio this afternoon on this the 16th day in a row Cleveland has seen rain. The last dry day was June 24th.

5:46 p.m. - WYKC's Sara Shookman says about 70% of Richland County is without power this afternoon after the strong storms move through.

5:42 p.m. - Multiple roadways closed by flooding on State Route 36 in the city of Coshocton.

5:38 p.m. - Route 38 flooded about 8 miles west of Coshocton.

5:38 p.m. - WKYC Chief Meteorologist says high wind, hail and tornado threat is OVER for northern Ohio, but significant flooding is MAJOR and will continue through the evening hours.

5:36 p.m. - FirstEnergy now reporting 69,938 without power across northern Ohio this afternoon. Many areas reporting outages.

5:34 p.m. - Storms are beginning to wind down across the northern Ohio as the cold front continues moving east. Once the rain ends, sunny weather will return to all of Ohio.

5:18 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING has been extended for Caroll and Tuscarawas Counties until 5:45 p.m. Unionpart, Richmond, Wintersville, Steubenville and Mingo Junction are in the path of this storm.

5:19 p.m. - A report says Pioneer Trail in Mantua/Hiram area is flooded and has had some mudslides.

5:17 p.m. - The Maple Valley Branch Libary on Copley Road in Akron has closed due to extreme flooding conditions on the property.

5:16 p.m. - Akron Canton Airport officials say some flights are being delayed due to the weather. Call ahead.

5:12 p.m. - Trees downed in Carrollton in Carroll County.

5:09 p.m. - FirstEnergy now reporting 75,496 without power across northern Ohio this afternoon. Many areas reporting outages.

5:03 p.m. - Numerous trees down 3 miles west of Newcomerstown in Coshocton County.

5:01 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for Caroll and Tuscarawas Counties until 5:30 p.m. Sherrodsville, Bowerston, Scio and Kilgore are in the path of this storm.

5:00 p.m. - Numerous trees and wires down in North Georgetown in Columbiana County.

5:00 p.m. - Tree down in Port Washington in Tuscarawas County.

4:59 p.m. - Forecast flooding changed from MINOR TO MODERATE SEVERITY for the Blanchard River near Findlay.

4:58 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Coshocton and Tuscarawas County until 5:45 p.m.

4:58 p.m. - Streetsboro Police say several roads are flooded in the city. Police/fire had to rescue 3 people off flooded roadways when their cars became stuck in high waters.

4:53 p.m. - WOW (Wade Oval Wednesdays) concert has been canceled due to the weather.

 4:52 p.m. - Authories say a cargo train derailed in far northwest Ohio in Williams County. They say it was storm related and involved 40 to 45 cars from Norfolk Southern. No injuries reported.

4:50 p.m. - Trees down in Dover in Tuscarawas County.

4:50 p.m. - Numerous roads are reported flooded. Go to: http://ohgo.com/Dashboard/cleveland for the the latest updates from ODOT.

4:50 p.m. - Many trees down in Youngstown in Mahoning County.

4:50 p.m. - Flooding has closed I-77 northbound between Ridgewood Avenue and I-76, near mile marker 133. (Near Bath)

4:47 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING is in effect until 5:30 p.m. for Stark County including the city of Canton, East Sparta, Hartville, Louisville, Waynesburg, Alliance and Limaville.

4:45 p.m. - Almost every road is closed by flood waters, especially near the Eagle Creek Nature Preserve in Garrettsville in Portage County.

4:45 p.m. - Flash flooding near Warren in Trumbull County. Significant street flooding with secondary streets closed. Also, flooding of yards and fields.

4:44 p.m. - The Cleveland Division of Police are experiencing a number of calls for downed power liens across the city. Please remember to stay away from any power line as there is extreme danger.

4:42 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING now issued for Tuscarawas County until 5:15 p.m. Severe thunderstorms producing tornadoes were along a line from Bolivar to Sugarcreek to 7 miles southwest of Baltic and were moving east at 30 m.p.h.

4:35 p.m. - A few trees down in Sugar Creek Township about 5 miles east of Massillon in Stark County.

4:35 p.m. - Some trees down in thunderstorms in Jefferson in Ashtabula County.

4:30 p.m. - The Killbuck Creek has flooded at Route 302 and Old Lincon Way and Old Route 30. Water was as deep as the guard rails. This is in Wooster in Wayne County.

4:30 p.m. - The 911 Call Center reported numerous trees down across Holmes county including in Millersburg.

4:29 p.m. - FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS are in effect for Holmes and Wayne County until midnight Thursday. Torrential rains over one inch have already fallen with more expected this evening.

4:28 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for Summit County until 5 p.m. Expect high winds and hail near Mogadore, Portage Lakes, Green and Lakemore.

4:27 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Stark County until 5:15 p.m. Canton, Navarre, Massillon, Louisville, East Sparta and Waynesburg.

4:23 p.m. - A wall collapse has been reported at Tower City delaying the RTA Red line this afternoon.

4:22 p.m. - ODOT reporting State Route 44 in both directions is closed one mile north of State Route 14 and Dawley Road in Portage County due to flooding.

4:21 p.m. - Multiple trees reported down in Montville township in Medina County.

4:20 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Holmes County until 5:15 p.m.

4:20 p.m. - Trees down in Glenmont in Holmes County.

4:20 p.m. - FirstEnergy reporting 63,247 without power currently in northern Ohio. Outages are pretty much everywhere.

4:16 p.m - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Ashtabula County until 5:30 p.m. These storms were located along a line from near Conneaut to 17 miles northwest of Orwell and moving east at 40 m.p.h.

4:13 p.m. - Channel 3 News is reporting a partial roof collapse at Cleveland City Hall in downtown Cleveland due to the storms that moved through downtown. Crews are on the way to the scene.

4:10 p.m. - A flash flood in Kipton reported. Water overflowed a bridge closing a side road near the intersection of Route 511 and State Route 20 and flooding farm fields. Also high water reported on Route 20.

4:08 p.m. - A FLOOD WARNING has been issued for the Huron River near Milan. The river is at 20.1 feet, about 18 feet above flood stage.

4:05 p.m. - Trees down about 8 miles east, southeast of Medina, mainly in Sharon Township.

4:00 p.m. - 911 Call Center reports trees down in Chardon in Geauga County.

4:00 p.m. - Some trees reported down across Lake County in the Painesville area.

3:56 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING is now in effect until 5 p.m. for Geauga and Lake Counties. Chardon, Painesville, Burton, Perry, Middlefield and Madison are in the path of a dangerous storm.

3:55 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for Portage and Stark County until 5 p.m. This storm was near Hartville, or 10 miles southeast of Akron and moving east at 30 m.p.h. Watch out Ravenna, Hartville, Kent, Alliance, Brimfield and Limaville.

3:55 p.m. - Wind estimated at least 60 m.p.h. along with 3/4" inch  and a tree downed in Mansfield in Richland County.

3:53 p.m. - Rush hour traffic is slow going this afternoon. ODOT not reporting any major issues at the moment, but extra time will be needed.

3:52 p.m. - Measured thunderstorm wind gust to 60 m.p.h. in Mansfield in Richland County.

3:52 p.m. - FirstEnergy now reporting 30,320 customers without power all across northern Ohio. This number continues to climb.

3:50 p.m. - Flash flooding in Tallmadge in Summit County on Route 91 near the fairgrounds. Deep water was reported over roads. At least 2 cars were swept off the road into ditches. Water was up to the roof of cars.

3:50 p.m. - .75 inch hail in Cuyahoga Falls in Summit County along with wind gusts to 50 m.p.h.

3:49 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for Ashland, Medina and Wayne Counties until 4:30 p.m. This dangerous storm was located near Polk or 5 miles north of Ashland, and moving east at 60 m.p.h.

3:46 p.m. - Tree down on Post Road in the town on Mansfield in Summit County.

3:44 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING is now in effect for Mahoning, Portage and Trumbull Counties until 5:15 p.m.

3:42 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued until 5:15 p.m. for Median County. A severe storm will be affecting Litchfield, Medina, Lodi, Brunswick and Wadsworth.

3:39 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for Lorain County until 4:30 p.m. A dangerous storm was near Milan or 8 miles southeast of Sandusky moving east at 45 m.p.h.

3:39 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Ashland and Wayne County until 4:45 p.m.

3:36 p.m - Tree limbs knocked down in Norwalk in Huron County.

3:35 p.m. - A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect for Ashland and Richland Counties until midnight Thursday.

3:33 p.m. - FirstEnergy reporting 14,371 customers without power at this hour.

3:29 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Ashtabula and Trumbull Counties until 4:15 p.m. The storm was located near Andover and moving east at 30 m.p.h.

3:29 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Richland County until 4:3 0 p.m. Storm headed towards Bellville.

3:26 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING is in effect for Seneca County ujntiol 4:30 p.m.

3:20 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for Erie and Huron County. The storm was near Bellevue or 8 miles west of Norwalk and moving east at 65 m.p.h.  Watch out in Norwalk, Milan, Wakeman, Huron and Berlin Heights.

3:20 p.m. - Fifteen trees down near Route 4 and Township Road 126. in Seneca County near Attica. The downburst lasted 7 minutes with light damage to a home. Other trees down in the area and some pond flooding.

3:15 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Erie and Huron Counties until 4:15 pm. A storm was located 10 miles northwest of Willard and moving east at 25 m.p.h.

3:10 p.m. - Flash Flood Warnings in effect for Lorain, Medina and Summit County until 9 p.m. Over one inch of rain has fallen across portions of Lorain, Medina and Summit Counties. Another one to two inches is certainly possible.

3:09 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Cuyahoga and Summit Counties until 4:30 p.m. A line of thunderstorms extended from 19 miles northwest of westlake to 9 miles southwest of Barberton and moving east at 25 m.p.h.

3:06 p.m. - About 8,000 customers are reportedly without power according to FirstEnergy at this hour.

3:04 p.m. - A trained spotter reported wind gusts of 60 m.p.h. in Medina with a 3 foot diameter tree toppled.

3:00 p.m - A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for Ottawa and Sandusky Counties until 3:45 p.m. A storm capable of producing a tornado is near Gibonsburg and south of Elmore moving east at 25 m.p.h.

2:55 p.m. - Trees down and power outages in Wayne in Wood County.

2:55 p.m. - Large limbs reported down in Fremont in Sandusky County.

2:54 p.m - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Portage and Trumbull County until 3:45 p.m. This storm was located near Mantua and moving east at 25 m.p.h. Watch out in Warren, Garrettsville, Newton Falls and West Farmington.

2:52 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca County 3:45 p.m.

2:50 p.m. - 3 semis rolled over on Portage Road and South 75 in Bowling Green in Wood County.

2:50 p.m. - Trees reported down along with a barn and some corn was flattened 1 mile south of Polk in Ashland County.

2:50 p.m. - Thunderstorm wind damage reported in Fremont in Sandusky County.

2:42 p.m. - A measured wind gust of 65 m.p.h. was reported in Bowling Green in Wood County by a trained spotter.

2:40 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING in effect until 3:30 p.m. for Ashland County. This storm was near Savannah and moving east at 20 mph.

2:39 p.m. - One inch has been reported in Bellevue in Sandusky County by a trained spotter.

2:38 p.m. - An estimated wind gust of 54 m.p.h. was reported just south of Bowling Green in Wood County.

2:38 p.m. - Quarter sized hail was reported near the intersection of Miles Road and Interstate 271 in Bedford Heights.

2:37 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued until 3:45 p.m. for Lorain and Medina Counties. This storm was near Wellington and moving east at 25 mph.

2:30 p.m. - Hail reported in Milan in Erie County at one inch in size.

2:29 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for Ottawa and Sandusky Counties until 3:15 p.m. This storm was near Waterville and moving east at 30 m.p.h.

2:25 p.m. - Hail is reported in Pepper Pike at one inch in size.

2:21 p.m. - Quarter inch hail reported in Garfield Heights and Warrensville Heights in Cuyahoga County.

2:19 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Stark County until 3 p.m... Alliance is in the path of this storm as it moves east at 25 m.p.h.

2:15 p.m. - A TORNADO WARNING is active for Eastern Cuyahoga and Portage Counties until 3:00 p.m.

2:00 p.m. - A FLASH FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Cuyahoga County. 

2:05 p.m. - Numerous trees knocked down and uprooted across Erie County including in Sandusky.

2:00 p.m. - Quarter inch hail reported south of Sandusky in Erie County near Route 4 and the Ohio Turnpike. Some car damage has been reported.

1:51 p.m. - A FLASH FLOOD WARNING has been issued for central Erie County. The Nation Weather Service Doppler Radar has indicated a slow moving thunderstorm with very heavy rainfall across Western Erie County. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible watch could lead to significant flooding. 

1:11 p.m. - A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING was issued for Erie County in north Central Ohio and Sandusky County in north central Ohio.

All of the state of Ohio is under a slight risk for severe weather.

As a cold front pushes in our direction, heavy rain showers and strong thunderstorms are likely this afternoon.

Some of these storms will bring with them strong winds, in excess of 60 miles per hour, which could lead to downed trees and power outages. Along with the threat for severe weather, flooding is still a concern all across Northeast Ohio.

There is good news a part of this forecast as well - sunny, dry and comfortable weather will move in for Thursday and will linger into the middle of next week.

THIS AFTERNOON: Heavy rain showers and thunderstorms are expected, with strong to severe thunderstorms very likely. Hot and humid. Mid/Upper 80s
