CLEVELAND -- Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight have an extraordinary story to tell if and when they decide to tell it.
But in the meantime, the women who could not make decisions for themselves durnig their lengthy abduction are getting extraordinary help making important decisions and protecting their privacy.
A team of media consultants and attorneys is carefully shielding them from an onslaught of worldwide media.
And they are all working for free.
The women made just-released video statements to thank those who have made donations to help them and to show the world they are alive and well and getting better.
The FBI advised them to get help from media and legal experts to deal with the challenges they face after they were freed from Ariel Castro's home.
The media team is Hennes Paynter Crisis Communications.
The Cleveland firm normally advises corporations trying to protect reputations in difficult and damaging situations.
Bruce Hennes called this work a "labor of love. It's because the work is so easy and so hard."
It's hard because of the overwhelming barrage of requests. It's easy because it's helping women who need and deserve it.
And because the answers are the same to all calls. "No, not today and maybe never."
On Tuesday, after the video was released, there were about 130 e-mails and 30-plus calls from media representatives seeking more information and interviews with the women and their advisors.
A team of three lawyers are helping the women understand and navigate the legal system and protecting their rights.
Jones Day law firm partner Jim Wooley is a former federal prosecutor who handled big cases, including some involving corrupt police and mobsters.
Now many of his cases involve corporations and executives charged with white collar crime.
He's listed in Ohio's Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America.
Henry Hilow used to be an assistant county prosecutor and is now a defense lawyer who has had many high-profile cases and is well known and respected in the community.
Lawyer Kathy Joseph is helping Michelle Knight. She says more people are recognizing the women as they venture out in public.
"Scores " of proposals for books, movies and paid interviews have come in.
They are being "aggregated" and put off to the side for if and when the women decide to pursue them to tell their stories and improve their futures.
