MEDINA -- A group of students in Medina is feeling the effect of the government shutdown firsthand.

The shutdown forced the students from A-I Root Middle School to cancel a field trip to Washington, D.C., because all of the national museums and parks are closed.

"We were looking forward to it. Monday we heard that it wasn't gonna happen, and we're just really mad and upset," said Andy Prostor, an eighth-grader.

Wednesday, dozens of the students marched through the city in a peaceful protest.

The students carried signs during the protest. One in particular chided "Congress stop acting like children. That's our job."

The school principal says the school organized the protest to show that the students have a voice -- and to encourage them to share their views.
