PERRY -- A Facebook page that "creeped out" hundreds of girls from Perry High School has been shut down.
The page began to cause concern across the community two weeks ago when it posted little more than picture after picture taken from the Facebook pages of girls who attended or had graduated from Perry High School.
Facebook has now permanently shut down the page which used the phony name "Kole William," after police identified and interviewed the man behind it.
The Painesville Township man, who is single and in his mid-40's, was not charged and his name is not being released.
He was not a graduate of Perry High School and had no other connections to the school district.
"He told us he was a scholar in college," said Perry Police Chief Michael Shank, "and that he just wanted to pat those kids on the back and encourage them to do a good job."
"When we asked him why he only uploaded pictures of girls connected to Perry High School, he did not have an answer."

Shank said the Facebook page was shut down because it violated Facebook's rules. The man's IP address was also blocked, so he will not be able to access Facebook unless he uses a different computer.
"Now he knows he was scaring people," Shank said, of the man who, at one time, had uploaded more than 600 girls' pictures.
"We determined he had no criminal intent, and that he planned no overt acts."
Extra security however, will remain in place at extracurricular and after-hours events across the Perry School District.
