CLEVELAND -- Police responded to a call of a dog killed by an arrow on Burger Avenue on Saturday.
Police records confirm the following:
Police say the dog named Henry, a lab-terrier mix, was dead when they arrived and the City of Cleveland Kennel unit was on the scene.
Henry's owner, Ricardo Reinoso, 24, said he let Henry out at about 5 p.m. Saturday and Henry jumped over a fence at rear of his yard.
He said he went inside to grab Henry's leash and went looking for Henry.
About 7:15 p.m., Henry came home with an arrow wound to to its body. Henry died moments after getting back home.
Police followed a blood trail westbound on Burger Avenue through several yards and it stopped in rear yard of 3808 Wetzel Avenue.
In the northwest corner of 3808 Wetzel's rear yard was a larger puddle of blood. Police suspect this is where the dog was shot with the arrow.
Police say there was no response at 3808 Wetzel Avenue when officers knocked on the door.
Ricardo's mother, Toni Rozsahegyi, tells Channel 3 that Henry died in her son's arms. She said police told her they would open an animal cruelty case "but we have heard nothing."
She said her son required stitches after trying to remove the arrow from Henry's body.
She says she wants "justice for Henry."
Police say the investigation continues.
