Brunswick: Standoff ends, 1 dead, 1 hospitalized

BRUNSWICK -- Brunswick police say nearly 30-hour swat standoff has ended.

It started early Friday afternoon at a house on Jefferson Avenue and state Route 303.

Police say a woman was taken hostage by a man inside a home on 1528 Jefferson.

When police arrived at the home, the door was damaged and barricaded.

After a 30-hour standoff, police entered the home.

A 39-year-old man inside the home died from a gunshot wound. The woman in the home was injured and has been taken to Metro Health Medical Center.

Her condition is not known at this time.

Police have not release details on how the standoff ended or who fired a weapon in the home.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation is on scene to investigate the incident.
