Tens of thousands of Northeast Ohio homes are without power after severe storms moved through late this afternoon.

FirstEnergy on its website is reporting more than 50,000 customers without power about 6:30 p.m.. Cuyahoga and Lorain are among the hardest hit counties.

By 8 p.m., that number was down to just over 34,000.

FirstEnergy says crews are assessing the damage and working to restore power as quickly as possible.
