WARREN -- T.J. Lane, the teenager who shot and killed three students in the Chardon High School cafeteria has appealed his life sentence.

The court-appointed attorney for 18-year-old T.J. Lane filed the appeal Thursday with the 11th Ohio District Court of Appeals in Warren.

The brief filing also cited the decision moving his case to adult court in Chardon.

Lane was 17 at the time of the shooting rampage in February 2012.

His court-appointed attorney, Michael Partlow, said Monday an appeals focus would be whether a juvenile can be sentenced to life without chance of parole.

Lane pleaded guilty in February 2013 in the shooting rampage in February 2012 at Chardon High School.

At his sentencing, Lane wore a T-shirt with "killer" scrawled across it and he cursed and gestured obscenely.
