RUSSELL TOWNSHIP -- Fire Departments from 9 Geauga County communities responded to a large garage and house fire Wednesday night.

Fire broke out on Beechwood Drive Wednesday night shortly before 8:30 p.m.

The initial call was for a three-alarm fire and reports that a large garage was fully engulfed in flames that was starting to spread to the home.

Neighbors reported there may be oxygen tanks inside the garage.

Fire Departments from Auburn, Bainbridge, Burton, Chardon, Chester, Middlefield, Munson, and Newbury have been called to the fire scene.

The fire chief told Channel 3 News neighbors heard a big boom and then saw the fire. No one was home at the time of the fire but a family did live in the home. There were no injuries. The various fire departments had to bring the water in to the fire scene. At this time it appears the house and garage could not be saved but no cause or damage estimate have been released yet.
