Truly we have not seen a good glimpse at the sun for more than a week.
It was October 25th when the sun was shining and the temperatures were in the upper 70s to near 80. We hit records ...
...and then it was gone.
A big ol' cold front blasted through on the 26th with clouds and showers and we were socked in with rain and clouds for the 27th. The rain came down on a cold, raw Browns game, but our guys overcame and beat San Diego.
Then Sandy. Then the clouds and lake effect on the backside of the slow-moving leftovers of Sandy.
Which leads us to today. And the joy that abounds when we get to see the sunshine after a long time.
Cleveland isn't exactly known for sun in winter. With the Lakes north and west of us (Superior, Michigan, Huron and Erie) there is abundant moisture for cold winds to condense to make the clouds and the lake effect rain and/or snow showers.
So we have to wait it out until the winds begin to change, and it looks like that change is on the way.
Drier air is working in with higher pressure and the clouds are breaking up. The winds will still be whipping across the Lake, so we won't be totally sunny for Saturday, and chances are some will still see some showers lingering through the early part of the day.
Then that wonderful big area of high pressure takes control and Sunday through Tuesday of next week we get a much needed break. A break from the rain, the snow, the wind and the clouds.
So, get used to it friends... there is more of the sun to come.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy with scattered rain/snow lingering. No accumulation likely. Breezy. Low/mid 30s
Saturday: Blustery and mostly cloudy with lingering rain/snow mix for Cleveland and areas east. Farther west and well south, skies will be partly sunny. Low/mid 40s
Sunday: Partly cloudy. Mid 40s
Monday: Partly cloudy. Mid 40s
Tuesday: Partly cloudy. Mid 40s
Wednesday: Partly sunny with a chance for rain Wednesday night. Upper 40s
Thursday: Mostly cloudy with scattered rain. Near 50
Friday: Partly cloudy. Mid 50s
By the way, for those who have been watching... there is a good chance for another storm system (this one isn't a hurricane, but a much more seasonable Nor'easter) to hit the East Coast. Unlike Sandy, this storm is forecast to move due north into the Canadian Maritimes. We are keeping an eye on it.
