WKYC Web StaffMAPLE HEIGHTS -- Roads have reopened after an apartment fire caused several closings Saturday evening.
According to Maple Heights police, I-480 Eastbound ramp at the Warrensville Center Road exit was closed as a result of the fire.
The fire began shortly after 5 p.m. on Warrensville Center Road in a three-story apartment building.
Several neighboring fire departments responded to the scene, including Bedford, Bedford Heights and Garfield Heights.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the fire happened as a result of a heating unit.
At the time of the fire, eleven out of twelve apartments were occupied.
All of the occupants made it out safely, but several families were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
